AMPHIS BÆNA (pronounced am-fis bay-nuh) performs distinctive, creative music
that blends Jazz, Rock and Electronic Music. The trio’s loose, spirited songs have
been affectionately described as “sophisticated Garage-rock,” stemming from the dynamic interaction between the group combined with deceptively simple forms. Alto sax lines sail above distorted keyboards and digital pads while crisp beats propel ever-evolving grooves that slip into hyper-rhythmic breakbeats. AMPHIS BÆNA produces highly energetic shows that move audiences across genres, recognizing the influences of artists like Björk, Keith Jarrett, Ani DiFranco and Squarepusher.
AMPHIS BÆNA is Brian Scherman (alto sax, electronics), Jarrett Cherner
(keyboards) and Adam Clark (drums, laptop). Sharing the stage with them is BLUE SKY RESEARCH. Hailing from the Southwest, the Midwest and South Asia respectively, BLUE SKY RESEARCH has been pleasing audiences and peers alike with their tasteful blend of musical elements and influences. Performances throughout New England and a recent Midwest tour have yielded glowing reviews from fans, who likened them to such eclectic musicians as Norah Jones, Björk, James Taylor and Joni Mitchell. This band puts a fresh face on jazz, paying homage in their compositions to the blues, folk and rock they were raised on, always with a spirit of adventure and ingenuity. BLUE SKY RESEARCH is Sunny Kim (vocals, processing), Camille Jentgen (keyboards, vocals), Bridget
Kearney (Bass, vocals) and Adam Clark (drums, percussion).
