SEEKONK
THE LOW COUNTRY MESSIAHS
STOCKHOLM SYNDROME

Spend a vibrant, ethereal autumn evening enjoying an
eclectic line up featuring Portland, Maine’s slo-core
giants Seekonk, as they perform material off of their
upcoming sophomore LP. Comparisons to GY!BE and Low
aside, see why they have labels on both sides of the
pond clamoring to put out their next record.

Making their Cambridge debut, Lowell, MA duo the Low
Country Messiahs bring a slow burn of ramshackle,
multi-octave singing, psych-drenched slide guitar and
eerie sonics married to deep delta blues and dark,
haunting acapella spirituals. Imagine Memphis Minnie
and Charley Patton on a double-date with Flannery
O’Connor and John Brown, while Jason Spaceman
chaperones a baleful trip past scarecrow preacher
revivalists under the tent-show’s hepatitis-yellow
lights. Featuring Rob Hamilton, ex-Green Magnet
School. Soon to be featured in “No Depression”
magazine. Not to be
missed! (www.lowcountrymessiahs.com)

Opening the night and marking their 2nd Zeitgeist
appearance, local free/freak jazzcore
improvisationalists (dear old)Stockholm Syndrome will
alight the senses with the unique wall of sound
created when a processed Theremin bounces off of Ennio
Morricone-inflected guitar, white noise, and lap-steel
twang, then careens into modern Dutch-style free
drumming. Neat-o!
