Mystic Out-Bop Review is an acoustic free improv trio based in Portland, Maine. We have performed together for several years supporting a variety of local events. Our challenging new music has been featured in local radio, and theatrical productions in Portland, ME and Boston, MA. Musical ideas and influences come from a variety of performers, the most prominent being: Sun Ra, John Zorn, Air, Albert Ayler, Captain Beefheart, Ornette Coleman and Cecil Taylor. It is, in part, our varied interest in adventuresome and outsider music that provides us our solid intuitive communication.
Chris Welcome and Shayna Dulberger both live in New York and are founding members of the Free Jazz group Modus. Tonight, they will be performing a set of duo improvisations as well as new compositions by Chris Welcome.
