Boston Jazz Composers Collective presents:
-THE BIRNBAUM/FENLON/KESSLER TRIO

This concert is the first of the Boston Jazz Composers Collective series,
featuring The Birnbaum/Fenlon/Kessler Trio- Comprised of a student each at
Berklee (drummer Kessler), Boston College (Saxophonist Birnbaum), and New
England Conservatory (Guitarist/Trombonist Fenlon), the trio play original
music that borrows from the downtown New York jazz scene as well as blues,
rock, and experimental improvisational music. They attempt to stretch the
boundaries of traditional jazz song structure, while still maintaining a
strong melodic sensibility.

The BJCC is founded by Gabriel Birnbaum, and includes local composers and
musicians currently between the ages of 16 and 23.The series will consist of
concerts of new music (usually from 2 different bands) the first sunday of
every month. There will be many different ensembles made up of BJCC members
(and even some non-members) playing over the coming months.
