Carmen Staaf:
Has performed at the Montreux and North Sea Jazz Festivals, Lincoln Center’s Avery Fisher Hall, and the Concurso de Jóvenes Jazzistas in Havana, Cuba. She has shared the stage with many jazz greats, including Dave Liebman, Bob Brookmeyer, Ernestine Anderson and Don Lanphere, appearing at festivals and jazz clubs in the Pacific Northwest, California, Idaho, and the Northeast. Ms. Staaf has studied extensively with Danilo Pérez and spent six months in Cuba. She is well versed in many jazz, Latin and folk styles, and performs regularly in the Boston area as a freelance musician. She is also a member of the new Jewish music group Khevre, in which she plays piano and accordion. A student at the New England Conservatory, she is concurrently completing a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology at Tufts University, where she has received academic honors.
Peter Slavon:
Born in Sofia, Bulgaria, came to Boston to attend the Berklee College of Music. One of the scene most requested bass players has performed with world class musicians such as Jamey Haddad and Jane Bunnett and Spirits of Havana. He is a part of the Leo Blanco trio, and the Francisco Mela group. A most versatile musician from mainstream Jazz to Afrocuban idioms. Peter has vast experience both here and abroad including prestigious Jazz Festivals.
Jorge Perez-Albela:
Born in Lima Peru, moved to Boston in 1994 to attend the Berklee College of Music. He has performed and recorded with Grammy nominee Eva Ayllon, Gian Marco. Also with singers Tania Libertad and Fabiola De La Cuba. Saxophonist Eli Degibri (Herbie Hancock), pianist Leo Blanco. Bassist Oscar Stagnaro, pianist Albert Sanz and Rusty Scott, saxophonist Javier Vercher, trumpeters Jason Palmer and Peter Kenagy, and with the band Surca. Currently leads his own group, exploring the sounds of his native Peru and the language of Jazz.
