A Circus Like No Other

Cirque Du Singe Brisé

W/ Special Guests God Size Hole

Cirque Du Singe Brisé; an unusual name to be sure. It’s translation: Circus of the Shattered Monkey. Puzzling, yes, but don’t go thinking lions, tigers and bears (or for that matter, monkeys.) Instead, insert eclectic singer-songwriters, poets and video artists… and then the fragments start to fit together. The circus will be making its premier this coming Friday July 30th at the Zeitgeist Gallery 9:00pm and plans to be a monthly showcase happening on the last Friday of every month. Headlining this month’s presentation will be God Size Hole.

Cirque Du Singe Brisé is the brainchild of Boston’s own Rod Webber. Webber, who has in the past year, toured the US as a solo performer and is known locally for the music and occasional on-air banter on FNX Radio’s, Swasey Show, came up with this idea to find an alternative outlet to showcase the works of performers that have something to say in a different way. “I just wanted to present an option for people that value substance over style,” says Webber.

God Size Hole approaches their music with the idea of making a lot of dark melody and noise while still leaving enough space for the listener to think. Fronted by well-known Boston entertainment writer David Wildman, their walls of screaming Marshall excess and murder ballad intimacy will perfectly cap off an evening filled with some of Boston’s most daring performers.

Other performers involved with this month’s showcase are members of the New York City avant-garde leftist band Kids Against Combs, underground cult rocker The Weird Brian Rodman. The straight faced, yet full of surprises, Matt Ferrell will be the ring leader of the event and performing as well, along with Rod Webber bringing his quirky mix of mainstream & madness and adding some stability to the night will be the rustic folky and absolutely lovely Sarah Winchester.

In between each performer’s set will be presentations from local video artists and poets and nowhere will anyone find someone that defines the typecast of their particular talents, their goal is more so to defy it. The Zeitgeist Gallery will most definitely be the place to be for anyone that wants a cool and intriguing getaway from the normal ongoings of a Friday night and admission is only $5.00!

Cirque Du Singe Brisé will always be looking for new faces to take part in this event and anyone who is interested should email management@rodwebber.com. Any members of the press or media that have particular eclectic favorites are more than welcomed to pass on any recommendations.

A promo sampler of all the acts involved with Cirque Du Singe Brisé is soon to be sent your way, along with additional information on some of the individual artists. For more information contact Rich Van Vleet 516-826-4412.
