TEPFER/KU/SPIEGELMAN TRIO

Formed out of a common search for new ways to improvise, the tepfer/ku/spiegelman trio takes the jazz and classical background of each player and turns it on its head, yielding a highly dynamic musical unit in which the chief word is equality. Faced with a highly non-standard instrumentation, the trio has freed itself from traditional roles: guitar, piano and woodwind interact as three (and sometimes four or five) independent musical voices, supporting, leading, even challenging each other in a continuous improvisational dialogue. The program will mix original compositions, free improvisation and fresh interpretations of jazz standards.
