JOHN CREMONA & BAND

Light show by

John Cremona is a literate lyricist and a writer of beautiful melodies.
>His debut CD Rain (Xob Records) is a collection of stark and haunting
>songs/dreams. The Boston Phoenix said of Rain : “The message is positive,
>but with a few side trips to Hell…But even his dark stories are buoyed by
>the light in his voice. It’s a gentle, relaxed instrument with an
>appealing tenor range set in the service of generous melodies.” American
>country music from Texas and Tennessee, the langorous rhythms and melodies
>of Brazilian popular song, and British rock from the 1960s to the present
>are his primary influences. The songs are intelligent and accessible, laid
>back and intense.

For two decades, on and off, he has played and recorded with many of
Boston’s indie-world luminaries. Rain was recorded primarily in his Boston
loft with friends and impostors. Metronome Magazine said of Rain : “With a
knack for clever lyrics, Cremona delivers his prose with an unaffected,
almost stark reserve…the outcome manages an emotive quality that is
undeniably potent.” Rain closes with the song, “I Know a Place,” which has
been accepted by “New Songs for Peace,” a project of the United Nations
Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) aimed to promote
peace, cultural acceptance, and understanding worldwide.

Cremona’s songs chart the distance between hinterlands of noirish solitude
and the clearing where love’s redemptive power is revealed. He plays
guitar, harmonica, and sings. Don’t miss this much anticipated return
engagement to the Zeitgeist.
