Visionsong Collaborative proudly presents Lift, the exciting young quintet
featuring saxophonist Pat Donaher and pianist Jed Wilson, performing live at
the Zeitgeist Gallery on January 30 at 9:30 pm. The band will be performing
music they will be recording for an as yet untitled new release. Playing
primarily original material, as well as covers from artists as diverse as
Thelonious Monk and Radiohead, the band’s music aims for the physical-
pushing and pulling, lifting and releasing the listener, a music at once
deeply introspective and wild. The band also features Patrick Hay on
guitar, Josh Feinberg on bass, and Jason Nazaree on drums
Pat Donaher has been called by Cadence Magazine “…a young talent worth
watching.” A Boston native, he has performed with artists as diverse as Bob
Brookmeyer, Paul Bley, Dave Douglas, Steve Vai and many others. His music
has been recognized for excellence by ASCAP, and performed on stages all
over the country. Jed Wilson has been The band features Camille Jentgen on
piano, Pat Hay on guitar, Josh Feinberg on bass and Jason Nazaree on drums.
Jed Wilson has been recognized for his soulful and intelligent playing since
he was 16, when Downbeat magazine recognized him with their Student Music
award for outstanding soloist. He has performed for jazz gods and folk
singers alike. This is his first performance with Lift.
Prana Trio is an eclectic ensemble comprised of Sunny Kim (voice), Evan
Halloin (Bass) and Brian Adler (Drums). Co-founded by Brian Adler, the
group is dedicated to exploring original compositions, free improvisations
and works by the poet Rumi. Within days of its inception, New England
Conservatory selected this group to be an Honors Ensemble for the 2003
season, to represent the conservatory in a series of public performances
and a Jordan Hall recital. Guitarist David Fiuszynski raves: “Prana Trio’s
music unleashes strong colors which correspond with moods that range from
