The Autumn Rhythm craft beautiful, hauntingly direct songs: music that
wears its heart on its sleeve. Their dreamy, melodic, music has been
described by The Village Voice as “intimate, narcotic, and surprisingly
mature”. The Autumn Rhythm are proud to have been compared to The Velvet
Underground, Galaxie 500, Yo La Tengo, Ida, and Cat Power.
Seekonk’s shoegazey, spaced-out pop has been described by The Portland
Phoenix as “dreamy, lush, underwater, slow, milky, and melodic.” Seekonk
formed in the winter of 2002 with Dave, Shana and Pat hanging out and
writing songs after their shifts at the cafe in Portland where they all
still work. After playing a few shows on their own and with friends Josh
and Greg, they decided to ask Todd and Jason to join the band to complete
their current line-up. They recorded 9 songs on their own, and then they
recorded an album with Jon Wyman, taking full advantage of his mastery of
Big Sound Studio’s 2” analog tape facilities. Their debut album, “for
barbara lee” will be released on Kimchee Records in November 2003.
