-Kevin O’Rourke (Lo Fine)

There are not enough superlatives to describe the wonderful work of Irish singer-songwriter Martin Finke. From his early, self-released work (A Coat For You, Cast in Old Cast Iron) to 1999’s Let It Ring (Mango Music) to last year’s Untended Stories (Parallel Music), Finke’s craft has grown from an already formidable place to a level of truly remarkable songwriting. With influences as varied as Van Morrison, David Gray, Nick Drake, Mark Kozalek (Red House Painters) and Mark Eitzel (American Music Club), Finke’s artistry has taken these outstanding
examples and woven them into music that is truly his own and truly original. With thoughful and erudite lyrics, Finke is both confident and self-deprecating, and sings of time-worn subjects such as falling in love with a vitality that makes you think he invented love to begin with.

Kevin O’Rourke returns to the Zeitgeist to start off this evening of gentle, intelligent music. Northampton’s own Kevin O’Rourke is the frontman of the immensely talented band Lo Fine. O’Rourke’s brilliant lyrics and heartbreakingly beautiful voice never fail to win the attention of anyone lucky enough to see him perform.
