The ManifestOrchestra performs Travelogs
Travelogs is a new dramatic work, with both text and music composed by the ManifestOrchestra. In a sentence, it’s about the spiritual dimension of travel. We reflect on the rhymes between travelling and dreaming, travelling and maturing, travelling and mindfulness, travelling and grief.
Musically we draw upon the influences of Bartok, the folk music of rural America and Eastern Europe, Thelonius Monk, and Sanskrit chant. The story concerns a young professional discovering the effects that travel can have when he visits Hungary for the funeral of a friend from his youth.
