vintage tv & film in blazing 16mm!

BEAUTY GAMES:
Tonight, a pair of films on the topic of feminine allure – American style. First, “The Story of a Beauty Contestant” (1963) follows Miss Los Angeles (“I don’t think I’m pretty, really.”) in her quest for the 1962 Miss California crown. This was the age of Camelot, when Jackie Kennedy set the standard for pillbox-style sophistication and charm . . . and the talent phase is unforgettable. Next, as though in reply, Rod Serling offers “Number 12 Looks a Lot Like You” (1964), an atmospheric parable set in an improbable, dystopian futureworld where people can “get the face and body they dream of” through the miracle of surgery. Can one young woman avoid a mandatory makeover . . . in the Twilight Zone?
