Daniela Schächter began studying piano at age eight, and by her mid-teens she was performing publicly in Sicily, Italy, as well as doing studio session work. After receiving a degree from the Conservatory in Classical Piano Performance, she began teaching in Messina, Italy. In 1998, she received a scholarship to the Berklee College of Music, where she studied with Joanne Brackeen, Ray Santisi, Frank Carlberg, George Garzone, Hal Crook, and Ed Tomassi.

Daniela has won many prestigious awards, such as the Terri Lyne Carrington Endowed Scholarship, which is the award for the most promising female musician at the Berklee, The Liberace Scholarship and the ‘Tindari 93, Prize’ for the best jazz duo. Daniela has won The Sister in Jazz Competition 2002, performing at IAJE Conference 2002, Los Angeles. Also, Daniela appeared in the Jazziz magazine collector’s CD featuring today’s finest female jazz artists (July 2001). She was awarded a full-tuition scholarship to the Henry Mancini Institute for one month, where she has studied with Billy Childs and Bill Cunliffe. Recently, she wan the Betty Carter’s Jazz Ahead Competition 2002.

Daniela has performed at the Brass Group Jazz Festival, the Umbria Jazz Fest, the Cape May Jazz Festival, the Cleveland Jazz Fest with the Rainbow Big Band, the International Trumpet Guilt Conference, and the Hollywood Bowl.

Daniela has performed with John Clayton Jr. and the Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra, John Dankworth, the New York Voices, Terri Lyne Carrington, Patti Austin, Regina Carter, Harry Skoler, Christian McBride, Bruce Gertz, Ingred Jenson, Tiger Okoshi, Shirley Horne, Al McKibbon, Phil Wilson, and Ed Tomassi, among others.

She has also been conducted by Quincy Jones, Patrick Williams, Jerry Goldsmith, John Clayton Jr., Elmer Bernstein, Bob Brookmeyer, Justin DiCioccio and Phil Wilson.

Daniela performed at the Kennedy Center (Washington DC) with the Betty Carter’s Jazz Ahead winners, April 4th and 5th and with the Sisters in Jazz group during Mary Lou Williams Jazz Festival, May 10th and 11th 2002. She played at ‘The Blue Note’ with ‘The Tiger Okoshi Quartet’, May 13th 2002, New York and with Patti Austin, Nov 7th 2002 at Scullers Jazz Club, Boston. She is currently teaching private piano lessons at Boston College High School and working as a piano accompanist in the Voice Department of Berklee College of Music. She is touring with Patti Austin since Fall 2002 with the group BeboperElla. Performed at Lincoln Center and Laura Belle NYC (special guest Regina Carter). She performed at Sarasota Jazz Festival FL on March 28th and she performed in Emeryville, CA in April 2003. She performed at Symphony Hall with the Boston Pops and Patti Austin on May 6th, 7th and 19th 2003. She performed at Ravinia Jazz Festival with the Count Basie Big Band and Patti Austin on June 12th 2003 and at the Steans Institute at Ravinia with a group of young musicians selected by James Moody, Nathan Davis, Rufus Reid, Danilo Perez and David Baker.
