1st installment in a new series entitled Studio Z: First Thursday at the
Zeitgeist

(Cambridge) Zeitgeist Gallery presents Affirming The Mundane: a written and
visual essay on two hundred paper plates; organized and curated by Robert
Moeller, Thursday, September 4, 7-11 pm, free and open to the public. At the
Zeitgeist Gallery, 1353 Cambridge St., Inman Sq., Cambridge. For information
log onto www.zeitgeist-gallery.org or call 617-876-6060.

Nine artists write, paint, draw, and project on objects found in every
cupboard. Angry, pastoral, even amused, each artist adds, plate by plate, to
an accumulating sense of emptiness and despair. Redundancy becomes a
commitment and the disposable is embraced. The show includes 25 messages to
George W. Bush from Boston University professor Howard Zinn.

The show, organized and curated by Robert Moeller, features the work of
artists Gill Arno, Catherine Burkhard, Sally Dewart, Aki Morizono, Dan
O’Kane, Julie Parker, Robert Schelling, Theres Wegmann and Howard Zinn.

(Background on the new series Studio Z: First Thursday at the Zeitgeist)
Studio Z is a curated art event on the first Thursday of each month. Studio
Z is an opportunity for 5-7 artists to show and sell their work for one
evening, the first Thursday of each month, from 7-11 pm. Studio Z is also an
opportunity for the public to see, talk about, and purchase fine art
immediately and informally, sometimes directly from the artist. A salon
atmosphere will prevail, with lively discussion. Temporary exhibit walls
will be brought in to display the work. The art will be both inexpensive and
of fine quality. There is no admission fee and light refreshments will be
served.
