Dutch saxophonist and composer Jorrit Dijkstra has been an active member of Amsterdam’s vivid jazz and improvisation scene since 1985, before moving to Boston early 2002. Jorrit Dijkstra studied improvisation and composition with Misha Mengelberg, Steve Coleman, Steve Lacy and Lee Hyla. He has worked with Willem Breuker, Guus Janssen, Jaap Blonk, Gerry Hemingway, Marty Ehrlich, Herb Robertson, Jim Black, Barre Phillips and Marc Ducret, to name a few
Boston-based percussionist Curt Newton ‘s current projects include the Central Artery Project, the mi3, Nate McBride Quartet, and Trio Ex Nihilo. His long association with bassist Nate McBride is considered “one of the finest rhythm sections for free improvisors” by noted jazz writer Bob Blumenthal. He has worked with leading musicians & groups like Ken Vandermark, Joe Morris, and Debris.
Called one of the most influential pianists in Korea by Monthly Piano Magazine, pianist/composer/ improvisor Soo-Jung Kae describes her music as a melting pot of classical, 20th century classical, free improvisation, and jazz. Kae has performed in Asia, Europe, and North America as a soloist, and with other artists and groups including Charlie Kohlhase, Hans Poppel, Curt Newton, Tom Plsek, Jim Hobbs, Jeff Song, Chang U Choi, Yonsei Quartet, Seoul City Orchestra, and Korean Philharmonic Orchestra
