8pm Free Improv
$10 donation
the Zeitgeist Gallery presents the first appearance of Maneri/Moran/Maneri, a new trio of legendary multi-instrumentalist Joe Maneri, revolutionary vibraphonist Matt Moran, and renown violinist Mat Maneri.
Maneri/Moran/Maneri speaks a musical language developed over years of playing together in various combinations. Father and son Joe and Mat Maneri have defined a new era of improvisation, documented on 16 recordings over the past 10 years. Vibraphonist and composer Moran has played with Joe Maneri since 1994, and is
a member of the Mat Maneri Quintet. Onstage together they have inspired standing-room only crowds in New York’s downtown, performing at the Knitting Factory and
Tonic in groups led by Mat Maneri.
The trio will perform at 8pm; admission is $10. The Zeitgeist Gallery is located at 1353 Cambridge Street in Inman Square, Cambridge. For information call 617-876-6060, or see http://www.zeitgeist-gallery.org.

“…original and deeply compelling… [Joe] Maneri is a communicative player: His sounds on tenor, alto, and especially clarinet are impressively his own, his phrases logical and meaningful.” -Gary Giddins, the Village Voice
“…superb, technically ingenious… passionate and serious, but also playful and funny. …when Moran’s short-fuse pauses ignite into four-malleted pyrotechnics, it’s like hearing an angel have a seizure.” -Douglas Wolk, the Village Voice
“Maneri’s virtuosity is everywhere apparent - in his beautiful control of tone, in the moment-to-moment details that unfold in his playing, in the compositional integrity of each of his pieces, in what visual artists might call the variety of his ‘mark-making’: spidery multi-note runs, rhythmically charged double-stops and plucking, subtle and dramatic dynamic shifts.” -Jon Garelick, The Boston Phoenix
